Bret,

Nice blog! It’s your birthday! Happy birthday from your family back home! We are proud of you, pilgrim! I saw a WWII vet today and looked him in the eye and said, “Thanks for freedom!” He presented a glowing smile in return. A similar message goes to you and your fellow walkers, “Thanks for standing up freedom”!

Enjoy your special day! 25, eh? We wish we could celebrate with you today, but we with you in thought and prayer!

Love,

Dad and Mom, Ryan and Abby

Freedom, Blisters and Horseshoes

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

After three consecutive days of 17-mile days, my left foot had a blow out with blisters.  So I took a day off and helped the promotion crew hand out flyers in Owen-Withee for the townhall meeting.  The day off helped as yesterday I was back with the Walkers for another 15 mile walk.  Along the way we ran into a group of 100 bikers who were on a ride to raise money to buy flags for Vietnam Memorials around the county.  We received a hearty welcome as they appreciated our efforts to bring the message of Liberty to WI.

Our 15-mile hike yesterday ended up a corner tavern where they were having a horseshoe competition.  The bar owner made us feel at home as she thought our effort is greatly needed and needs to replicated across the country.   She ran for state Senate this year but was unsuccessful.  People are really tired of what their getting from their government.  This is a common theme we receive along the walk and in the townhall meetings.  What a great time to be alive and have the opportunity to help make a difference in this country.

Getting ready for another 14-mile walk to Chippewa Falls.  Stay tuned….

Take care,

Grant

Edgar, WI : My First Day on the Walk

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Finally made it to Wausau, WI yesterday (8/18) to catch up with the rest of the gang.  Did some promoting around Wausau for the townhall meeting that night.  It went over extremely well, as you can tell from the other posts.

First day of walking for me was a 17-mile hike through the beautiful WI countryside from Wausau to Edgar.  It was worth every step.  Great discussions with people who stopped along side the road to understand what what we were doing.  Held another townhall in Edgar with a very appreciative audience who thought the presentation and discussion afterwards was well worth the time they took to attend.  It’s really encouraging to see people talk about the issues we’ve all been so passionately promoting and seeing the need to return to the Constitution.

Take care,

Grant
